The Chameleon

One of the things I find most fascinating about Magdalene St. Michaels is her ability to "transform".  Her tenderness and almost "motherly" ways with women is usually what initially grabs your attention when viewing her work for the first time.  She takes her time and revels in the art of slow, passionate seduction.  Such work has gained her a large fan base because prior to Magdalene coming on the scene, no other actress managed to do what she does so effortlessly.  Even in roles in which she portrays very dominant or authoritative characters, she still manages to maintain her passionate, attentive ways.

Magdalene is an all-around true actress.  Her talent and skills enable her to harmonize with the role she takes on.  Similar to a chameleon, she has the ability to adapt to the role she is playing and fit into the environment very naturally.  She is not afraid to step out of her comfort zone and take chances.

Magdalene recently decided to explore a new avenue of expression and pleasure (BDSM).  This new and distinctly different piece of her work is the complete opposite of the work we have all grown to know and love and relate to Magdalene St. Michaels. I have heard varying points of view on her decision to pursue something so contrary to her normal erotic and sensual performances.  I, myself, viewed the performance and will admit it was difficult to watch at times and almost upsetting in some spots.  I guess you could make a case that this performance was not without some controversy.  Honestly, it was a difficult thing for me to digest and I let my viewing experience marinate for a while. After giving it some time, I was really encouraged & challenged to open my mind, think outside my comfort zone and look beyond my barriers. Thus I began to explore more on the topic of Mary Magdalene as a Sacred Prostitute and the parallels with Magdalene St. Michaels. It seems to be of interest not only to myself, but to Magdalene herself as well as other Devotees.

Mary Magdalene was a woman who definitely was not without controversy.  People of her time didn't understand what she was doing or the methods she chose to help others and became known as a woman who was misunderstood and often looked upon as an outcast or sinner because her practices were so different than what some could, or were willing to accept.  In other words, her methods or ways didn't fit the "norm".  Today, I can clearly equate this thought process with Magdalene St. Michaels and her recent decision to pursue a different avenue of expression - one that is the complete extreme opposite of her "normal" work (lesbian erotica) as well as one that could be misunderstood.

Another interesting tid-bit I came across in relation to Mary Magdalene is that it is reported that she is said to have spent her last days alone in the wilderness, fasting and engaging in acts of penitential self-discipline, behavior that was rewarded with experiences of ecstatic union with the divine.   Things that make you go HMMMM.....Take a step back for a moment.  When I viewed Magdalene's recent performance for a second time, I forced myself to remove the barriers and blocks I had pre-established in my mind.  I encouraged myself to view this performance with an entirely different perspective.  I opened my mind, took away the inhibitions and looked past the stigma society puts on such activities.  Re-watching, I saw Magdalene transform from her confident fiery self, not yet fully accepting the process she was about to embark on, to a bit of a timid and submissive individual - unsure and unknowing - to an individual who accepted the "pain" and transformed it into a higher, spiritual level of arousal and pleasure. In a spiritual sense, she gave of herself for the ultimate goal of extreme pleasure, perhaps even experiencing an extreme connection with "The Creator".......Makes you think for a moment.

In my research of Mary Magdalene, one thing is clear - she was very different and distinguished from other women.  There were many things she did, and had association with, that made her stand out from the rest. It's intriguing to me that today, Magdalene St. Michaels seems to have this aura about her...there is something about the woman that makes you stop and take notice.  You can't quite put your finger on it because it isn’t just one thing, but rather an entire package.  She exudes a very special and unique energy that can’t quite be explained, but you just know it’s there and present. You cannot help but be instantly mesmerized by her vibe.  Magdalene really seems to reach women in all sorts of ways.

It is said that sometimes the best lessons in life are learned by watching somebody else live by them. I know that Magdalene St. Michaels has done just that for so many of us.  In my particular case, as you well know, she was the spiritual inspiration I so desperately needed.

I always maintain that when we step out of our comfort zones and challenge ourselves, that is when we do the most growth as individuals, on all levels.  In my opinion, Magdalene's choice to take on this new role was daring and refreshing at the same time.  Daring in the respect that some die-hard fans might not be as open to Magdalene in this new role which definitely could stir some controversy, and refreshing in the respect that despite this, Magdalene still took on the role, aced it and actually picked up some new fans.  Magdalene's flexibility enables her to have the ability to appeal to many different types of people in many different ways.  As a result, her star power is here to stay for as long as she has the desire to continue on doing the wonderful things she does.

This blog has encouraged me to seek out answers and challenged me to think outside the box.  Magdalene's recent "out of the norm" performance was a reminder to me that although I might not always be comfortable with another's choices, one must always be respectful of the individual and the decisions they made for themselves.  It was a reminder to me that sometimes you are forced to look within and seek answers that may not be right on the surface....sometimes when you search deeper and overcome the mental barriers or preconceived notions you may have established, the answers you find may exceed all your wildest dreams......
